Contains the following type of materials: photographs. Covers the following war: World War I (WWI). Contains photographs of the following military units and organizations: 5th United States (U.S.) Artillery, 31st Artillery Brigade, American Expeditionary Forces (A.E.F.). General description of the collection: The William C. Davis photograph collection Contains personal photos of Brigadier General Davis, an 1890 graduate of the Military Academy. Most of his photos are of family and friends, including two albums of post retirement travels from 1924-1929. One large oversize leatherbound album is extrordinarily good, because it reflects the years 1894-1895. Lieutenant Davis was then with the 5th Artillery at Fort Monroe, and many photos show excellent shots of the fort and nearby areas in Virginia. There are views of Yorktown, Williamsburg, James River, etc., also photos of Gettysburg battlefield in Pennsylvania and Fort Wadsworth and Mount Vernon, New York. An album in box 2 covers the General's WWI service commanding the 31st Artillery Brigade, however, most of the photos are Signal Corps photos which are duplicated in the U.S. Army Military History Institute's World War I Signal Corps collection.

3 boxes (1058 photographs)
